The choice of materials:

Azeitão is a special and a typical village. Surrounded by sea, mountains and vineyard lands, this village is also full of walls covered with tiles worn out by time, concrete in several layers, gilded boards made of varnished wood... the textures are a world to discover. Based on what surrounds me every day, I had this invitation to use and create in a very passioned way, a piece that may reflects and represent those walls.

The process:

The process was based in a study i had with the owner of the hand made tiles atelier, in the heart of my village. Choosing different tiles in style, sewing times, thickness, and even century designs. The final result is needed to be a piece who can tell more then the ink used in. This is a tribute and fusion between the modern art in walls where I am proud to have my roots ( graffiti) and the walls from the past, who have already achieved their own stories, and continue to perpetuate them over time.

The details:

This artwork is made made up of several pieces, and styles. One of my very first purpose in my work. As if in the end we could observe what today's walls will look like, with yesterday's history. It was constructed in a wood base, made with specific hand made tiles, concrete with pigment, , pure white pigments, acrylics and and the undeniable spray paint. A kind of ode to the wonderful mix that unites so many styles and textures today. An attempt to create a piece of art that stands out in its time, based on so many past stories.
